TAX FREE

Tax exemption for foreign visitors and Japanese citizens who live overseas

Maruhiro Department Store Kawagoe offers consumption tax exemption on eligible items.
An administrative handling fee will be charged (1.1% of purchase price).

Eligible Items

General items: shoes, bags, jewelry, watches, clothing, home furnishings, etc.
* Total of purchases made in one day at our store must be at least JPY 5,000 (before tax).
* Items must be taken out of Japan within six months of the purchaser's entrance to Japan
Consumables: foods, drinks, cosmetics, incense, tobaccos, etc.
* Total of purchases made in one day at our store must be at least JPY 5,000 and not more than JPY 500,000 (before tax).
* Items must be taken out of Japan within 30 days of purchase.
* Items must stay sealed in package until taken out of Japan.
NOTE: General items and consumables will be considered and calculated separately.

WHERE: Tax Free Counter, 4th floor of Southwest Wing

WHO: Non-residents (Foreign visitors who have been in Japan for less than six months)
Japanese citizens who live overseas
WHEN: Tax exemption procedure must be completed on the day of purchase (10:00-18:30).
WHAT: Please bring the item(s) purchased, receipt(s) of purchase, purchaser's passport, and credit card used (if purchased by card).
The purchaser him/herself must complete the procedure personally.
If the names on the passport, receipt, and credit card differ, we cannot complete the transaction.
Tax exemption procedure cannot be completed by proxy.

Items not eligible:

 processing fees (excluding labor fees at time of purchase), consumed food and drink, shipping fees, gift catalogues, and commercial goods
* Some tenants' items are not eligible for tax exemption.
